Presentation of the Centre
Skane University Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Centre (SUHCCC) is a partnership between Skane University Hospital (located in Malmö and Lund), Lund University, Regional Cancer Centre South, Medical Services and Mobile Teams/Specialized Palliative Care within Primary Care. SUHCCC works to promote clinical research, faster access to new treatment methods for patients with cancer, patient participation and even higher quality of cancer care through a more structured partnership. Skåne University Hospital is one of the largest cancer-treating hospitals in the Nordic region and provides national and regional specialized care in South Sweden, covering a population of 1.8 million people. SUHCCC structure promote continuous improvement as well as international and national networking.
Main research activities
SUHCCC integrates research into clinical practice, enhances collaboration from prevention to palliative care, with key areas including genomics, proteomics, biomarkers, novel therapies and clinical trials.
Core Facilities
Core facilities include for example regional cancer registries, a biobank, a oncology/hematology clinical trial unit, molecular diagnostics, advanced gene and cell therapy as well as a comprehensive radiotherapy centre with inhouse MRI, MR-Linac, SRS/SBRT, orthovoltage- brachy- and tomotherapy.
Education
Education for all categories of healthcare professionals in various cancer-related disciplines is an important mission for SUHCCC. The university and hospital are responsible for the teaching of students within a range of professions, including medical students, hospital physicists and nurses. SUHCCC also provides a number of further educational initiatives as well as education directed at patients and next of kin.
