Presentation of the Centre
Uppsala Comprehensive Cancer Centre (UCCC) aims to be one of the leading cancer centers in Europe focusing on the patient. Our university hospital is responsible for cancer care in a 2 million people region and is a national and international referral center. We provide cutting-edge, multidisciplinary cancer care, with excellent facilities for medical imaging, biomarker measurement and genetic diagnostics. Our center is dedicated to provide the best and most up-to-date personalized treatment, including surgery, medical oncology and radiotherapy as well as palliative care and rehabilitation.
Main Research Activities
Successful cancer research from bench to bedside is carried out in close collaboration with Uppsala University.
We have a JACIE accreditation of stem cell transplantation and the only Swedish ENETS and ERN center of excellence for Neuroendocrine tumors. Through our ATMP center translational research, clinical trials and development of new CAR-T cells is in the forefront. The Skandion Clinic in Uppsala provides excellent possibilities for research on proton beam radiotherapy.
Core Facilities
Our Clinical Research and Development Unit provides top-level support for clinical trials. The U-CAN collection of longitudinal tumor and blood samples comprise > 8000 cancer patients in the Uppsala biobank. SciLifeLab provides access to cutting-edge research core facilities for e.g. omics, imaging and drug discovery. The EpiHub supports excellent epidemiology research.
Education
We provide education of health care professions both at undergraduate, master and specialized levels and have an extensive PhD program.
