Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, the largest in Catalonia and second in Spain, provides advanced healthcare across all life stages through its three centres: the General Hospital, the Maternity and Children’s Hospital, and the Traumatology, Rehabilitation, and Burns Hospital. Accredited by Spain's Health Ministry as a reference for 33 specialized pathologies, it is a leader in complex care.
As part of the Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, alongside the Vall d ’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Catalonia (CEMCAT), and Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), it forms a hub of medical and scientific excellence dedicated to advancing healthcare and improving patient outcomes.
Main Research Activities
VHIO’s research is centred in the clinical and translational aspects of targeted and precision therapies for cancer including dentification/study of molecular alterations, biomarkers (prognostic, predictive, of response/ resistance) and actionable targets. The VHIO counts with 27 research groups devoted to cancer science, under the umbrella of 2 main programs: preclinical/ translational and clinical.

Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron is committed to training healthcare professionals across disciplines, offering programs ranging from university education to residency and specialized training, as well as continuous professional development. The hospital provides internship opportunities during Intermediate and Higher Training Cycles, offering students practical experience in a multidisciplinary clinical setting. The Vall d’Hebron Centre for Advanced Clinical Simulation, a key part of the Teaching Department, plays a vital cross-disciplinary role in enhancing clinical education and training.
