Presentation of the Centre
The Cancer Center Clínica Universidad de Navarra (CCUN) is a non-profit comprehensive cancer institution that integrates in its two locations -Pamplona and Madrid- the healthcare, research and teaching cancer activities of the Universidad de Navarra as a whole.
The Center comprises 229 medical specialists and 120 nurses fully devoted to deal with more than 3,000 cancer patients every year, and 254 full-time researchers focused on cancer projects.
Main Research Activities
The Cancer Center's preclinical and clinical research is carried out by 47 research groups that develop their scientific activity in diverse areas such as Onco-Hematology, Gynecological Cancer, Pediatric Tumors, Respiratory Tract Tumors, Liver and Digestive Tumors, Immunotherapy and Advanced Therapies, Radiobiomedicine or Chemical Therapies. Research in all these areas is based on 4 common pillars: Early detection and intervention, Advanced therapies, Biomarkers and Genomics. In relation with clinical research, CCUN has initiated more than 100 new clinical trials during the last year, recruiting more than 400 patients, 75% of then in early phases trials.

313 hospital beds (80 for Oncology Patients); 2 adult ICUs and 2 Neonatal and Paediatric ICUs; 2 Day hospital units (32 boxes for Oncology Patients); 1 GMP Radiopharmacy laboratory; 1 GMP Cell Therapy laboratory; 27 operating rooms, 4 hybrid operating rooms; 3 prostate laser machines; 4 MRI and 1 intraoperative 3 Tesla MRI; 2 SPECT-CT and 5 CT; 3 PET; 2 Mammography machines; 2 Neuronavigators; 1 Proton accelerator, 1 Magnetic Resonance Linear Accelerator, 2 linear accelerators and 1 intraoperative linear accelerator; 2 brachytherapy machines.

Biobank, Bioinformatics, Analytical biochemistry, Flow cytometry, Genomics and Molecular diagnostics, Microscopic image, Radioactive facility, Experimental surgery, Laboratory Animal facility, MicroPET and Morphology.
Education
Every year, the Cancer Center trains 22 residents in the Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Onco-Hematology programs, as well as 87 other residents in disciplines also related to the medical and surgical treatment of cancer. Its membership to the University of Navarra allows the Cancer Center's professionals to actively participate in the education of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Biology, Biochemistry and Psychology.
