Main Research Activities and Core Facilities
There is the long background of Antoine Lacassagne’s Center through some innovations we are proud of:
Radiotherapy is the flagship of Lacassagne, equipped with one of the most comprehensive platforms throughout Europe.
The sole Cyclotron built in a hospital with the first proton therapy treatment targeting choroidal melanomas in adults. Since 1991 6,500 patients have been treated, ie, about 5 % of patients worldwide.
The first cyberknife device in France in 2006.
The « Proteus One », the first high energy proton therapy device throughout the world. Treating 200 paediatric cancers a year.
The “Papillon 50” for contact therapy procedure.
In 2011 the “Head and Neck Institute” was set up gathering the teaching hospital and Lacassagne Center’s strengths.
It is a real organizational breakthrough as far as E.N.T. cancers are concerned.
In 2017 “Breast and Gynaecological Clinic” opened with its health care pathway with a modern technical platform gathering all the caregivers in a single location.
From the clinical research centre Phase I (16 th CLIPP in France) to our “Mozart institute”: a comprehensive supportive care and therapeutic education workshop integrated centre.
We are getting familiar with the patients’ healthcare pathway described by OECI A&D.
Since 2023, Lacassagne has met the highest standards of quality and risk management, granted by the French Health Authority.
