Presentation of the Centre
The National Cancer Institute of Naples - Fondazione “Giovanni Pascale” (INT – Pascale) is the largest Clinical Care and Research Cancer Center in Southern Italy.
It is composed of four buildings in the Main Campus in Naples:
- Main Hospital Building with Operating Theatre (186 in-patient beds);
- Day Hospital and Day Surgery Building (42-day hospital beds);
- Research Building;
- Administrative Building
Another Campus mainly dedicated to Research is located in Mercogliano (AV). Recently the Institute acquired by the Regional Government the antique “Ascalesi” Hospital, located in the historic center of Naples, currently mainly dedicated to out-patients care.
Main Research Activities
The research activities of the INT- Pascale are financed with intramural funds made available by the Ministry of Health and with competitive grants from public National and International bodies (including EU) as well as from non-profit and profit private bodies
The research program is organized in four macro-areas:
- Prevention, one health, quality of life and survivorship
- Immuno-oncology
- Biomarkers and precision oncology
- Diagnostic-therapeutic technology and management innovation.
INT- Pascale is strongly committed towards clinical research with more than 860 clinical studies (both interventional and observational) activated in the last 5 years (105 as Phase1).

- Drug discovery facility, including in silico, High throughput screening (HTS) and high content screening (HCS) robotic platform for rapid ex vivo drug testing
INT-Pascale has strategically invested in technological upgrading and a Proton-Therapy facility is under construction.
Education
At INT-Pascale there are four undergraduate programs:
- Two Bachelor of Science in Nursing schools
- Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Radiology Techniques
