Presentation of the Centre
The Greater Poland Cancer Centre (GPCC) is one of the largest comprehensive cancer centres in Poland and Europe. Supervised by the Greater Poland Voivodeship authorities, it provides advanced oncological care, hospitalising over 33,300 patients annually. Each year, the Centre performs approximately 7,000 surgical procedures, 7,000 radiotherapy treatments, and handles nearly 168,000 outpatient visits (as of 2024).
GPCC operates across three locations: its main site in Poznań and branches in Kalisz and Piła.
These modern facilities offer a full spectrum of radiation oncology services, including diagnostics, treatment, and research.
Staff
At GPCC, we prioritise professional excellence. Most wards and departments are led by university professors, while many of our physicians hold doctoral degrees and multiple specialisations. Half of our nursing staff have university degrees, with many holding specialist licences. Our diagnostic and therapeutic teams also include psychologists, medical physicists, physiotherapists, biologists, and laboratory diagnosticians.
Science at GPCC
GPCC is accredited for residency programmes in multiple oncological and surgical fields. It hosts four university departments: Biotechnology (Prof. A. Mackiewicz), Cancer Pathology and Prophylactics (Prof. A. Marszałek), Head and Neck Surgery (Prof. W. Golusiński), and Electroradiology (Prof. J. Malicki). The Centre is also home to the editorial offices of four international scientific journals: Reports of Practical Oncology and Radiotherapy, Letters in Oncology Science, Contemporary Oncology, and Journal of Contemporary Brachytherapy.
