Presentation of the Centre
Riga East University Hospital (REUH) is the largest emergency multi-profile healthcare institution in Latvia. It encompasses a wide range of specialized fields, including: microsurgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, bedsore treatment, toxicology and sepsis, polytrauma, burn and frost-bite treatment, stem cell transplantation, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS treatment, oncology patients’ treatment. REUH is notable for treating approximately 85% of solitary tumours and 98% of onco-haematology patients in Latvia.
Main research activities
REUH is actively engaged in clinical research and academic activities, positioning itself as a central hub for scientific studies and collaboration. The hospital's Science Department plays a crucial role in supporting and ensuring compliance with clinical research projects.
Core Facilities
REUH comprises five clinical centres, where cancer patients are treated, thus providing a comprehensive array of services, including: oncological surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and haematology (including transplantation), diagnostic radiology and pathology, pharmacy, rehabilitation, palliative care.
Education
Education is a high priority at REUH, which is dedicated to the training of: medical students, postgraduate residents, doctors, PhD students, cancer nursing staff, radiotherapy personnel. This commitment ensures that REUH not only provides top-tier medical care but also fosters the next generation of healthcare professionals and researchers.
