Dokuz Eylul University Oncology Institute plays a pioneering role in combating cancer by providing advance prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment methods, conducting state-of-art research, and training well-equipped scientists in line with our mission.
Dokuz Eylul University Oncology Institute, established on July 11, 1992, in Izmir, Türkiye, is the only oncology institute in the Aegean Region and one of three in the country. Located within the Muzaffer M. Kayhan Oncology Hospital, the institute provides advanced care for adult and pediatric hematology and oncology patients. The institute comprises the Departments of Clinical Oncology (with sub-disciplines of Medical Oncology, Pediatric Oncology, Tumor Pathology, and Radiation Oncology, Adolescent and Young Adult Tumors and Geriatric Oncology), Basic Oncology, Preventive Oncology and Translational Oncology.
Main Research Activities
The institute conducts extensive research in cancer etiology, prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment, with a strong focus on translational research. Departments within the institute specialize in various oncology fields, utilizing a “bench-to-bedside” approach to accelerate the application of basic science discoveries to clinical practice.
Core Facilities
The institute’s hematology-oncology, basic oncology, and translational oncology laboratories are equipped for multidisciplinary research, with advanced capabilities in cell culture, molecular, genomic, and proteomic analyses.
Education
The institute offers master’s and Ph.D. programs in Basic Oncology, Cancer Epidemiology, and Translational Oncology, aiming to train qualified researchers for the scientific community.
